WorkforceSkills™ Training Centers (WSTC) is committed to the educational, and professional, development of its residents as well as for the youth of our community. We are proud to identify those of us who are reaping the benefits of our services.

Employment and Educational Outlook

To-date, we have employed a large percentage of our students that are part of our employment education training program. Employment Education students learn to compete in the marketplace due to the down-turn of the economy. A number of our students are now currently attending college.
Accomplishments

Deanna Pusateri has completed her GED, received her diploma, and is presently employed in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. She plans to attend Harper College in the fall.

LaSheila Churchill has completed 4 out of 5 of her GED Tests and is currently employed and living in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Bazarah- Call has completed 3 out of 5 of his GED tests and has attained a job at Movado in Gurnee Mills. He also awaits his appointment at a Printing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is planning to attend college part time.

Eric Williams has completed 2 of GED subject matter tests and is dedicated to laying the groundwork for his own business. He is currently working at Sunset Foods but his goal is to become an entrepreneur and supply a quality life for his family. He also plans to attend college after attaining his GED diploma.

Pauline Cook as she is called by her peers is, our Spiritual Leader in class. She also passed 4 out of 5 of her subject area tests and is eagerly awaiting the 5th. Pauline is working on the structure and designs for her restaurant and catering business.

Maria Gonzales has passed 2 out of 5 of her subject matter tests at CLC and is working on passing the other 3 soon. She is Hispanic and took her tests in English. She has already started one cleaning service and is now working on another. We are excited to see just how far she will go.

Sherman Austin has been with the WorkforceSkills™ GED Prep Class since June of 08. He came to WSTC by way of Zion Township as a means of attaining general assistance. Sherman was taken under the wings of Terry Ward and together they worked towards the success of the GED component. He became the GED Administrator and Director of Adult Education. After 16 months of volunteering, Mr. Austin, who works hand in hand with the College of Lake County, was noticed by on of its instructors. He has been hired and is now employed at Daisy’s Resource Optional School in North Chicago, Illinois.

Vivian Townsend is attaining her GED and will be employed at the Lake County Health Department as a Medical Clerk.

Dorothy George has one more GED test to take and is employed as a Security Technician in the Public School System.

THE following students in training attend WSTC in order to attain skills conducive to success in their chosen career. They are to be applauded for their hard and accomplishment:

Jennifer Burns has been selected to co-op as an Illinois WorkNet Advisor (IWA). She received her IWA program certificate of completion from Southern Illinois University.

Danielle Young is now currently training as a Case Manager assisting incoming clients.

Kera Rhyan has been chosen as a Senior Case Manager and Snack Bar Coordinator.

Denise Prentice is an integral part and principal lead in the establishment of Northern Illinois Administrative Assistant Association (NIAAA).

Gail Edwards is now embarking upon the establishment of the Northern Illinois Administrative Assistant Association (NIAAA).
